Congressman Lynn Westmoreland would like to recognize and congratulate Henry County resident Song Kang for winning the annual Third District Congressional Art Contest. Ms. Kang submitted a pen and marker piece entitled “The Schedule,” and was selected among 100 entries from 15 participating Georgia high schools to have her artwork displayed in the corridors of the U.S. Capitol.

“It is always incredible to view the talent that exists in Georgia’s third district,” stated Westmoreland. “Not only do these young artists have great potential, but they are actively pursuing their creative dreams. Song’s artwork will be viewed by thousands of people as they tour the U.S. Capitol each day.”

As the first place winner of the Congressional Art Competition, Ms. Kang will receive a $10,000 scholarship to the Art Institute of Atlanta.  In addition, she will receive a trip to Washington DC with a parent and her art teacher to attend the ceremony where her artwork will be displayed in the Capitol.  A special thank you goes to Georgia EMC for the travel contribution and to the Art Institute of Atlanta for their continued support of this contest.
